To celebrate 25 years of Overload Skate Shop, we brought together a multi-part anniversary project that blended design, storytelling, and community. From concept to execution, every element was created with intention, authenticity, and respect for the culture that has shaped Overload since day one. The project spanned a limited-edition apparel capsule, a 25-artist group exhibition, an archival display of the shop’s history, and a launch event — each designed to honour the milestone with thoughtfulness and attention to detail.

The 25 Year Anniversary capsule drew inspiration from Overload’s visual and physical history, referencing colours from the original storefront and interiors. Each piece was limited to 25 units, with subtle silver details marking the anniversary across premium tees, crewnecks, and a custom baseball jersey. Packaged in special edition boxes, the collection was designed to feel collectible, considered, and true to the shop’s legacy. Meanwhile, the archival exhibition traced Overload’s evolution through photographs, flyers, graphics, t-shirts, and decks, focusing on defining moments, people, and spaces rather than a traditional timeline — allowing visitors to connect with the story of the shop and its community at their own pace.

The anniversary launch event tied all the elements together, celebrating the collection, exhibition, and the archive in one shared experience. It was a community-focused evening, highlighting the artists, collaborators, and local supporters who have contributed to Overload’s journey. By centering the celebration on the people who have made the shop what it is today, the milestone became more than a product release or exhibition — it was a reflection of the values, independence, and creativity that have sustained Overload for 25 years.
