The First Nike SB Dunk High Since 2024 Pays Tribute To Finnish Design

The wait is finally over. After nearly two years without a Nike SB Dunk High release, the silhouette returns with one of the year's most thoughtful collaborations. Celebrating 20 years of Beyond Store in Finland, the "Lines That Never End" Dunk High draws inspiration from legendary Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, whose revolutionary freeform swimming pool designs helped create an unexpected link to skateboarding decades before empty backyard pools became the birthplace of modern vertical skating.

That connection sits at the heart of the collaboration. In 1939, Aalto designed one of the world's first freeform swimming pools at Villa Mairea, replacing rigid rectangular shapes with flowing curves that would later become synonymous with pool skating. Beyond Store celebrates this piece of design history by translating Aalto's timeless aesthetic into one of Nike SB's most iconic silhouettes.

The upper combines premium white and cream leather with a birch-coloured Swoosh inspired by Aalto's furniture designs. A deep navy patent leather heel references the glazed ceramic tiles featured throughout his architecture, while a brick-red outsole pays homage to the bricks used in many of his most recognisable buildings. Hidden details include Beyond branding beneath the tongue, the shop's circular logo on the insoles, and illustrations of freeform pools alongside the phrase "Lines That Never End."

Beyond the design itself, this release represents two important milestones: it's the first Nike SB Dunk High release since 2024 and the first-ever Nike SB collaboration created by a skate shop from the Nordic region.
