How to Order Custom Apparel from Overload Printing

Creating custom apparel through Overload Printing is designed to be straightforward.

Choose a print-ready garment, select your options, upload your artwork and tell us how you want everything to look. We’ll prepare a digital proof for your approval before anything goes into production.

Whether you need custom T-shirts for a business, hoodies for a clothing brand, crewnecks for an event or a small run of something completely your own, this guide explains the process from beginning to end.

Step 1: Choose Your Blank Garment

Start by visiting our blank garment collection. We offer premium T-shirts, hoodies and crewnecks across multiple tiers, allowing you to choose the weight, fit and price point that best suits your project.

Blank T-Shirts

  • Tier 01 Tee: Premium 6.5 oz heavyweight cotton with a clean, structured and closer-to-body fit.
  • Tier 02 Tee: Versatile 5.3 oz combed cotton with a smooth surface and regular fit.
  • Tier 03 Tee: Durable 5.9 oz carded cotton with a regular fit and seamless tubular construction.

Blank Hoodies

  • Tier 01 Hoodie: Premium 14 oz brushed fleece with an oversized, drop-shoulder fit.
  • Tier 02 Hoodie: Durable 10 oz prewashed fleece with an athletic fit and additional room to move.

Blank Crewnecks

  • Tier 01 Crewneck: Premium 15 oz brushed fleece with an oversized fit, drop shoulders and a pigment-dyed finish.
  • Tier 02 Crewneck: Versatile 10 oz fleece with a clean, modern fit and soft feel.

Each garment is selected to provide a dependable foundation for custom graphics and specialty applications.

Step 2: Select Your Garment Options

On the product page, choose your preferred:

  • Garment size
  • Garment color
  • Embellishment placement
  • Quantity

Pricing updates automatically based on your selected garment options and embellishment placement.

If your order includes multiple sizes or colors, include the complete breakdown in the Special Instructions section so we can verify it before production.

Step 3: Upload Your Artwork

Upload your artwork directly through the product page.

We can work with most common image formats, but you should always provide the highest-resolution version available. A high-resolution PNG with a transparent background is strongly preferred when you do not want a background printed around your graphic. JPEG files do not support transparency.

Your artwork may have a transparent background, but every element intended to be printed must be set to 100% opacity. Semi-transparent elements, faded edges and other partially transparent effects cannot be reproduced accurately.

Vector artwork is also welcome when available.

Step 4: Provide Your Placement and Print-Size Instructions

Use the Special Instructions section to explain exactly how you want the finished garment to look.

Please include:

  • Where each graphic should be placed
  • Your preferred finished print width or height in inches
  • Any specific positioning requests
  • Your size and color breakdown for multiple garments
  • Any other information needed to prepare your proof

Common placements include:

  • Left chest
  • Center chest
  • Full front
  • Upper back
  • Full back

You can also provide more precise directions, such as the desired distance between the graphic and the collar.

For hoodies, front graphics must be positioned so they do not cross or overlap the kangaroo-pocket seams. The available print area may vary depending on the garment size.

If you aren’t sure what graphic size or position will work best, just let us know. We can recommend an appropriate option based on your artwork and selected garment.

Step 5: Review Your Order

Before checking out, confirm that you have selected the correct:

  • Garment
  • Sizes and quantities
  • Colors
  • Graphic placement
  • Artwork file

Make sure your contact email is correct. This is where we’ll send your digital proof and any questions regarding the order.

Step 6: Understand the Artwork Handling Fee

All custom graphic orders under $400 incur a $40 artwork handling fee, which is automatically added to your cart.

This fee covers the preparation and handling required to get smaller custom orders ready for production.

Step 7: Receive and Approve Your Digital Proof

A digital proof will be emailed to the address used for your order within one business day, Monday through Friday.

Your proof allows you to review:

  • Artwork size
  • Graphic placement
  • Garment details
  • Overall layout

Please check everything carefully and reply with your approval or requested changes. Production will not begin until your proof has been approved.

Changes requested after proof approval may delay production and could incur additional charges.

Step 8: Production

Please allow up to 10 business days for your custom order to be completed following proof approval.

Production time does not include the time spent waiting for approval, shipping time or unexpected delays caused by artwork changes.

If you need your order sooner, rush production may be possible depending on the project and our current workload. Contact us before ordering if you have a specific deadline. Rush orders are subject to availability and additional charges.

Special Printing and Custom Projects

Need something beyond a standard front or back graphic?

Overload Printing may also be able to assist with:

  • Patches
  • Embroidery
  • Puff prints
  • Glow-in-the-dark applications
  • Specialty placements
  • Other custom apparel projects

These services require a custom quote. Contact us before ordering so we can discuss your idea, artwork, quantities and deadline.

Can I Supply My Own Garments?

Possibly. Contact us before placing your order so we can confirm that your garments are suitable for our printing process.

Fabric composition, coatings, seams and garment construction can all affect how well a graphic will apply. We need to review the garments before confirming the project.
